I have the same 2 cameras "YI 1080 whatever". I run one with the original firmare and the other one with Star. everything is disable aside from ssh and RTSP. The MStar one is a lot hotter to the touch :(

The processes certainly consume more resources and could heat up the cam. Or it could be a hardware problem. If you want to know it it's a harware problem, the only way is to hack the other cam.
