There is no easy way to do NTLm via email in golang. Additionally, NTLM is probably not the state of the art anymore.

I suspect that this will break alertmanager HA functionnality, as Now will not be unique accross the cluster.

in prometheus we generally drop when there is an error rather than potentially misleading the users, I think I prefer to have the explicit error as well.
