Creating empty folders in the Windows\System32 folder

Open sdahri opened this issue 1 year ago • 10 comments

v2.0.80

Windows 11 (Build 10.0.26120)

Service

Real-Debrid

Internal

I'm not sure where the log files are.

I have a really bizzare issue on Windows 11. Whatever item I download it creates an empty folder in Windows\System32 with the folder name. It will not put the files in there but just creating the folder. There are hundreds of folders there, the way I realized it was RDT client doing it was because I did an RDT speedtest and it created the speedtest folder in there I beliece testdefault.rar

I've checked my windows variables and TMP/TEMP are not incorrectly set to the Windows\System32 folder.

Yeah, I noticed the same just today!

Not a major issue but an odd one. Admittedly I am on v2.0.79 so it's a new issue either.

I previously used the Internal downloader and the folders present were definitely older movies.

I also use Aria2c as the downloader currently and most recent files are not present. I'll keep an eye but current guess is that it is limited to Internal downloader.

I've noticed the issue from a fair few versions back. I had considered moving over to another downloader but as you mention it's just odd behavior!

It's doing this for me too only it's putting them inside folder that has the executable. I thought it might be to do with the symlink downloader but I guess not.

@Bugsbugme are you using the symlink downloader? And it's downloading files?

@sdahri @itinerantmarshmallow can you please post logs when this happens.

Yes I'm using the symlink downloader. It downloads the torrent and it gets added to my debrid account. Then it fails saying my mount doesn't exist and adds an empty folder with the name of the torrent to the exe folder.

I think I have seen that issue happen here too, it can happen when the file isn't available yet, but RDT tries to find it.

The new version has fixed the empty folder issue. Thanks! Although it does still create an empty folder for the test download. I'm getting a new error now though. It no longer says the mount doesn't exist but that it can't find the file in the mount.

I'll update to the new version, I was still on 79 and issue was present.

I'll have to find something to download to check it and clean up System32 first.

Found the actual issue, should be good in .86
