I have removed the internal downloader completely and replaced it with https://github.com/bezzad/Downloader So far I'm having good results and the download speed seems to be more accurate.

If you run them both on localhost for example, cookies will probably cross contaminate. Maybe setting up a reverse proxy so you have different subdomains? What is the end goal...
At the moment I don't think this will make it in, it's probably better to use the aria2c downloader as it has that functionality built in.
