Check proxychains.conf. Try "proxy_dns" or "proxy_dns_old" or "proxy_dns_daemon 127.0.0.1:1053" after starting a proxychains4-daemon -i 127.0.0.1 -p 1053 &>/dev/null &. Check FireFox network settings, try to choose NO PROXY.

EDIT: you're right, same problem here with Ubuntu 24.04 and "firefox-esr (128.6.0esr+build1-0ubuntu0.24.04.1~mt1". Solved with

proxy_dns <--
#proxy_dns_old <-- or
#proxy_dns_daemon 127.0.0.1:1053 <-- have to start the `proxychains4-daemon -i 127.0.0.1 -p 1053 &>/dev/null &`

in proxychains.conf as said before.
