Wifi speed / Only 1 Spatial stream with BCM94360NG
Hi again @roederja,
There might be a problem with the BCM94360NG Wifi board. Could you check when you are connected to the Wifi if it is using 1 spacial stream or 2? Please "NSS" in see attached screenshot from an interesting discussion here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/working-bcm94360ng-native-support-for-catalina-vs-bcm94352-dw1560.292767/page-2#post-2187836
I have the same issue. NSS = 1
Ok, I have already ordered the same Wifi card as it takes a long time to come from China. I intend to install Big Sur directly, will let you know if it changes something as apparently it seems to be a driver or OS issue as on Windows it is working fine according to the discussion. Anyway, Wifi will not be the main connection for this computer so not a big deal if not NSS 2 as long as neat things like Airdrop are working.
Now I'm waiting to see if I can get some discounts due to Black Friday before ordering all the components.
Hi guys! I've got a BCM94360NG m.2 card from the fenvi Official Store from Aliexpress. Same problem as you describe: the card uses only 1 spatial stream in mac OS, but works well in Windows. I tried contacting the seller, they suggested changing a router channel, etc., nothing helpful. Have you fixed the problem? What makes it even more strange, there are people mentioning that this card works fine for them (NSS: 2) in mac OS.
I'm not using the Wifi on the computer where this installed so it is working well enough for our usage sorry. But if someone finds the workaround, I'm interested as well.
Btw what SMBIOS do you use in this system?
I'm using iMac19,1, but I think iMac20,1 would be more appropriate. It didn't exist when I started this build and I never changed it because it worked well enough. Do you think that might be the reason for the wifi issue?
I found someone with exactly the same WiFi card, same drivers version, OS version, etc., but with 2 spatial streams working. The only differences were region (I tried using the same region, no success), and SMBIOS (MacBook Pro) instead of iMac19,1 that I'm using. I haven't tried changing SMBIOS yet, I'll try to find time to test it. UPD: No, changing the SMBIOS did not help in my case.
This is an interesting thread: https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues/1532 - unfortunately no real solution either.
Was there ever any lead on this topic? I can confirm the same issue, NSS 1 in macOS 12 limiting to 434mbps while in Windows 11 with driver 7.35.xx I get full 867mbps. Has to be some SW/firmware/settings issue.
