Filtering icon browser
in Custom Actions would be a fine convenience.
Just to clarify, you want to be able to select an icon? (as in bookmarks)
Sorry for not being clear. Right, Settings > Custom Actions > Icon (tab) to choose an icon for the custom action. And then in the little icon browser window, it would be easy if we could filter the icons, say, just by writing "term" to get the utilities-terminal etc.
Ok.
Since we already have a dialog (and code) for selecting icons (in bookmarks) I would like to use that, what about a button to open a dialog to select icon? (I don't think the dialog has a filter, but that would be easy to add)
Options 1: re-purpose the bookmarks icon selector, feature will be added in 6.2 2: add code to integrate in the table/col and give auto complete, feature will be added in 6.3
It is also somewhat similar to #102. This need may surface wherever there are multiple items to view. @AcarBurak: Do you have so many custom actions that needs filtering? If that is the case, then it means qtfm already has power users. ;)
@rodlie, whatever is easier for you is fine.
@imrn, It's not the custom actions that needs filtering, but their icons. When you create a custom action, there's an option in the settings dialog to set an icon for that custom action. When you click it, a small icon browser window opens and you scroll up and down to find the icon you want. I was talking about a filtering line edit at the beginning of that little browser (like Yad has), but whatever rodlie implements is fine.
Ok.

Now I'm a bit confused! We already have a dialog and code for selecting icons in the Custom Actions settings as well –the Icon tab in the table. Double clicking in that area in the new custom action entry opens the icon browser. Anyway…

Sorry. I misunderstood. Yes, finding relevant icons is a headache for nearly all desktops/apps.
