HP Z27n - getvcp 60 doesn't update
Hi,
I have a HP Z27n. Non G2.
Whenever I run getvcp 60 , it only ever returns with the first display port my linux system is plugged into.
When my monitor is on HDMI and a device is outputting signal to it. getvcp 60 still returns displayport 1 despite HDMI being active.
From what I've gathered. getvcp 60 just doesn't work on some monitors?
Let me know if there's any info I can provide to help. Thanks
As you've noted, implementations of feature x60 can be wonky. I am surprised though that you're having problems on an HP Z series monitor as that's a professional quality line. I own 2 myself.
One question that comes to mind is whether the On Screen Display reports the correct input when getvcp 60 does not. Does changing the input via OSD vs setvcp 60 make a difference?
Hey @rockowitz
Odd. No I have no difference when using the OSD over the DDC commands. getvcp 60 only ever states dp1 is in use.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact my linux desktop is still outputting a image to the displayport. Despite the monitors input being changed and having picture signal on the new input (HDMI).
Attached is the interrogate commands output. Maybe you spot something I don't. I'm curious as to if yours are a higher firmware version or not. Mine is the 1.0 firmware from what ddcutil says, and I don't see the version in the OSD or a utility to update it.

I use ddcutil alongside a usb switch so I can access my windows PC. The script I use is dumb and just assumes the value based on what is written to a file. This is were getvcp would be better. I just have never gotten it to output the correct input in use.
