Editor has very high GPU usage
My system: iMac5k, Big Sur 11.2, Quad Core i7, AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB
How I start the editor: java -XstartOnFirstThread -jar talos.1.2.0.jar
The Talos Editor has very GPU usage from the start. GPU usage above 90%. Even with no effect loaded.
If I click in other windows the GPU usage from the Talos editor goes down to under 20%. Clicking the Talos window again and GPU usage goes up.
The GPU usage is independent from the particle effect (empty start template, fire example, beam example) so it seems some editor components are driving GPU crazy when the window is active.
I am encountering the same issue on Win10, i7 6700k, RTX 3060ti. But I also had this problem in Embergen. I would like to have a feature to pause the viewport rendering.
Edit: I could fix it! I've opened the Nvidia control panel on Windows. Went to "Manage 3D settings">"Program settings"-tab. Then select Talos.exe from wherever you've saved it. Then change the "Max Framerate"-Setting to a lower framerate. Ideally you would want it to match your monitors Hz. I have a 60hz monitor, so I've set it to max 60 FPS.
If Nvidia control panel gives the error "access denied", go to ProgramData>Nvidia Corporation>Drs and delete "nvdrssel.bin".
