Bad connection to PC when using more than 10 MBits for bitrate

Open chrisipa opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Hi @rock88,

as soon as I start using more than 10 MBits for the Moonlight client, I always get framedrops and the UI shows Bad connection.

Not sure what the reason here is but it is probably not my home network (other Moonlight clients work fine):

  • I have tested the connection via 5 GHz AC WIFI in close proximity to my router
  • I also tried to use an USB LAN adapter for my Nintendo Switch

Can the performance of the client be improved somehow? For me 20 MBits would be the sweetspot in terms of quality (no visible compression artifacts) and low network usage.

Best regards Chris

I'm sorry, but I didn't find a workaround, yet.

It does so for me too, it seems to be a limitation of moonlight-nx for the time being; About 10 mbps is what works nicely

The issue is the stock CPU speed isn't fast enough to handle that high of a bitrate. I've been overclocking the CPU to 1326mhz and running 720p60 @ 15mbps reliably.

@gamepro65 does over clocking still works for you ?

With the latest version , even if I over clock to the max I still get hiccups and the occasional freeze

It used to be that using your recommended settings made the experience super smooth but now I'm back to dropping the bitrate to 8 mb and freezing every 30 min or so
