How can I test to see if this honeypot is working?

Hi - I am using this package with Express. However, I was expecting to need to associate the honeypot with a specific (hidden) input field in my view, but I do not see anything about that in the instructions.

I have implemented the honeypot as per the instructions and not getting any errors, but I am not clear on how I can test to see if the honeypot in fact is working.

In other words, I would like to, for example, switch my honeypot input field to visible, try entering a value, and confirming that this is detected as spam.

Or am I not understanding how honeypots work?
