[FEATURE] Video controls when casting
Apologies if I've just completely missed this in the docs, but is it possible to pause/resume/fast forward when casting the stream to a Chromecast?
It's easy enough to start a cast stream, but if it gets interrupted (or you simply need a break for whatever reason), I can't find a way to control the stream after starting it.
Thanks in advance.
@robbaman Depends on what you have the chromecast connected to, but if it's to a TV and you have HDMI CEC enabled on said TV (it's called differently by all TV manufacturers, so you will have to look it up) you can pause it using the remote of the TV. That's what I've been using for now.
On the other hand I would love to see some more option to control the stream like seeking and/or being able to jump to a specific point in the stream. I have development experience, just not with .net applications. I would not mind trying to fix this, but I would probably need a little kickstart from @robvdpol himself...
I'll put this on the roadmap for a future release.
However, I think you can also use the Google Home app to control playback of the stream.
Hey Rob, tnx for getting back to me.
I've tried pausing the video from the home app, which worked fine, but after a minute or so, the app no longer recognized that there was a stream 'running' on the Chromecast which prevented me from restarting the stream.
Because I also don't know how to fast forward (I think this is only possible from the app that starts the stream), I was happy that I was only 8 minutes into the stream when I paused it :)
Would love to have some more control over my Chromecast!
I'm thinking of play/pause, fast forward and rewinding. Syncing with other streams would be a very nice to have.
I've got to admin, now that the official F1 app has Chromecast functionality, this feature request has gotten al lot less important to me.
Yeah, you're probably better off using the official F1 app for Chromecasting now. Also the reason why I'm not really focusing my development efforts on this right now.
I understand. For now that's fine, but would be nice to add it for the future! Espescially when it was possible to cast a custom layout, that would be great.
