WIP: Trying out some refactoring ideas

Playing around with ideas on separating out the ingestion of the source input from the actual formatting of the docstring

To Do:

  • Add docstrings back to all the main functions
  • Naming is hard, I should possibly do it better
  • Add more unit tests
