git-annex?
Cool stuff @robinandeer, as always! Cosmid really reminds me of git-annex, have you checked it out? People over here in #neuro (@yarikoptic) are going for DataGit:
https://github.com/data-git/datagit
Let me know what you think!
shhhh shhhh -- datagit is illegit -- it is violating the Git trademark, so we were told to rename it soonish. cosmid's interface looks very similar to what we are aiming at eventually, indeed with the git-annex in the backend. BTW - I have already a brief correspondence with 1000genomes project admins asking them to enable explicit versioning on S3 to 100% guarantee fetching correct file... unfortunately no versioning for now. Let's hope that date in a filename will show itself 100% reliable ;) Thanks @brainstorm for pointing to @cosmid -- good to know about similar-minded fellas and learn from the approaches taken ;-)
Thanks!
Although I continue to be encouraged to continue cosmid development I still can't seem to find any time to actually get much work done I'm afraid.
I haven't heard about git-annex or data*** before. I'll have to read up on those projects and others I've added to my todo list:
Hopefully we'll get to some point where a critical mass of researchers will adopt one single solutions :sunrise:
Eh, do not forget yet another hipster workflow system:

Pretty cool indeed :)
