Paginate long event lists

Open thecodewarrior opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

Some sites can have enormous event lists, which can cause extremely long load times and can be unwieldy. I think it'd be good to have events paginate, which could be done by having the event list be a fragment that's loaded with javascript. That way support doesn't have to be included in every page that shows events.

I thought about that. But then you can't use the browser search to look for specific things without scrolling down to the end so that everything is loaded.

An idea to facilitate events filtering:

  • add a checkbox 'all' that select/deselect all filters
  • group checkboxes by categories (e.g: art, war, job/positions, intrigue, ...) to select/deselect in 1 click all attacks and kills (war events), or all poetry, processions and festival (art events), or artifacts/books created, stolen or lost (craft events), ...

About an easier way to filter events, we could begin with tagging them? Made a first list here (events are designated by their type): DF events experimental tagging

The following candidate tags emerged: art, artifact, athletics, diplomacy, entity, evil, hf, hf position, hf battle, hf intrigue, religion, site, trade, war
