Verification

  • [X] I searched for similar issues at https://github.com/robbrad/UKBinCollectionData/issues?q=is:issue and found no duplicates
  • [X] I have provided a tested working address/postcode/UPRN with bin collections available
  • [X] I understand that this project is run by volunteer contributors and completion depends on numerous factors - even with a request, we cannot guarantee if/when your council will get a script

@thufunkymunky / @stvjon41 @BestMasterChief : can you make use of https://github.com/robbrad/UKBinCollectionData/wiki/Councils#google-calendar-public ?

Would need someone to make a public google calandar for each of the rounds - which shouldnt take to much time. Then user the link to the ICS file

@robbrad - I could probably use that if I knew more of what I am supposed to do. I have created a google calendar (for round C + My postcode). Not sure what to do after that though. Do not see "GooglePublicCalendarCouncil" in the list of councils. Do not see "Trafford" in the list of councils. Do I just set up using any council and then modify something after to use: python collect_data.py GooglePublicCalendarCouncil https://calendar.google.com/.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics -s ? Or should I be doing something via CLI directly on the HA

Or am I just being dumb here 😆

You’ll need to update the integration in Home Assistant use HACs

Then add it to HA and in the url field put your link to the ICS file

TY for the quick response Rob. The support in this community is outstanding. Including your own.

So, , Initial fail on my part. I had updated UKBCD but not restarted HA (facepalm). Having done so, I can now see "GooglePublicCalendarCouncil" in the list of councils. I was then a little confused on where to put the link for the ICS but then found that if I reconfigure, it then shows me the field to change the "URL to fetch bin collection data" (not shown on initial set up). I now have the sensor to add to dashboard.

One more QQ though. On the calendar, I put all bins for said day (green bin, red bag, black box, etc). UKBCD has only pulled in the one event (green bin). Does it only pull one event from the calendar. Do I have to create a calendar for each bin. OR again, am I missing a trick here.

@thufunkymunky - can you share some screenshots? it should pull in all events from the calander

Let me know of you want something specific and I will add it

I also get this for the sensor being unavailable for a period of time

Image

Which I believe it is because of this setting (I may be wrong)

@thufunkymunky - both issues should be fixed now - they were because we had put

"skip_get_url": true in the input.json and the integration didnt handle recurring events

Good Morning @robbrad , Sorry I have not replied since opening this request, I highly appreciate your help with this and working with @thufunkymunky . I belong to round D so if anyone comes across this then please use the following calendar for round - D 2025/2026

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/c651b5482f245814dacde36f8102eae9f662d76422d980676c0f517ed78327cc%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

Tested working following the guides from the wiki and robbrad's instructions. Quickly put together Example: Image

@robbrad - Yip, that fixed it - all entities (events) are now showing and with a little bit of card editing we get all the bins and there respective days (which for me is Thursdays, Round C)

Link to Calendar if anyone wishes to use it - Round C - Thursdays https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/d0c1d197b9b111dc4dc8a22fff2ba2148fa5579baef520a3316bbd4100367c52%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

A big thankyou to @robbrad for the turn around on this addition to UKBCD, GGs, you are a credit to the community.
