Photos taken with Roam on Win 10 only 23KB

Whenever I take photos with the camera feature in ROAM, it produces very small images, around 16-23 KB. I am using ROAM 2.5.2, and have also tested with 2.7.1 I have tried multiple resolutions using Nathan's suggestion of camera_res: width, height but get an error message "Could not start camera" The windows device is a Conker NS10 with 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. I have seen this reported a few times, and wondered if I have missed anything?

I was never able to get this to work after making several independent (fresh) attempts at conquering it. I had the exact problems you describe with 64 bit Windows 10 Pro.

I have had the same problem on Toughbook FZ-G1s and various Surface tablets on Windows 7 and Windows 10, with ROAM 2.6, 2.71, the nightly build, and trying the same thing as you. I get the "Could not start camera"issue with the Toughbooks and no error but no change in resolution either with the Surfaces. My understanding is the real fix would involve more substantial changes to the code.

Not sure if this will work for everyone but thought I'd share as it got me out of trouble... I had a look at the old photos a previous version of ROAM used to take on a Dell Rugged and found that despite it having an 8MP camera ROAM was always taking photos at 1920x1080. So I put that in my roam config like so:

camera_res: 1920, 1080

And it worked! if I went larger with the res like some were trying here https://github.com/roam-qgis/Roam/issues/243 I got the "Could not start camera" error but the 1920,1080 worked.

@bwragg Unfortunately I still haven't got that to work on the Toughpads - I've tried every darn combination of resolutions and it won't behave.

Keen to hear from anyone, anyone at all who's got it to work on Toughpads of any flavour.

(I've also got a separate issue of the camera not working at all on some slightly older models that were upgraded from W7 to W10 - may be a driver issue or some such?)
