qtractor crashes when opening a simple qtz with a yabridge'd plugin

Having some fun lately with Windows VST2/VST3 plugins, bridged into the Linux world with yabridge (5.0.5)+wine. I created a tiny .qtz file with the "pecs" plugin (see https://www.fullbucket.de/music/pecs.html) in qtractor 0.9.35. Saved the project, stopped qtractor, restarted it, opened that .qtz and qtractor crashes (see attached log.txt.

Going back to 0.9.34, this project is opened correctly. 0.9.35 and anything with a Git state more recent than that causes the crash. I have attached the .qtz file (renamed to "foo1.zip" since Github doesn't support .qtz as file type) as well.

I understand this whole yabridge/wine thingie is a rather fragile process (I have other problems with opening the GUIs of VST plugins with recent versions of Wine - need to roll back to an older version to make it work), but I think this problem of not being able to open a .qtz is disconnected from that. Unfortunately I have not been able to produce a core dump/gdb backtrace right now even though "ulimit -c unlimited" is in place and /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern is set to a writable path. Hm.

is the the only one plugin that crashes or is it with any vst3 under yabridge? I'm sorry but I can't follow you in this one--yabridge is not my thing and I don't have the spare time to deal with this kind of contraptions:) you'll have to help yourself on this as teven the log.txt doesn't make the thing any clear than saying the culprit is the plugin itself. also please check whether a plain .qtr does the same.

I tried 5 different yabridge-controlled plugins, and the crash is happening with all of them. Oh yes, and it's no different whether I open the .qtz or the plain .qtr inside it. Oh well.

I can probably offer an assist here as I have a working yabridge+qtractor setup. If this is still an issue on your end, please proceed as follows:

  1. Update yabridgectl to the latest version.
  2. Run yabridgectl sync
  3. Share the output of yabridgectl status
  4. Share the version of wine installed.
  5. Point us to a VST2 or VST3 plugin you are using that we can use to compare experiences (please try to make it a simple and small plugin).
  6. Share the list of paths Qtractor is configured to look for VST and VST3 plugins.
