Error opening URLs with custom protocol

Open fathonix opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

When opening a link with ViewTube custom protocol (viewtube:), the error "The address wasn't understood" shows up instead of asking which program to open with. Opening the link with xdg-open works. 43.0 on NetBSD/amd64 9.3, prebuilt from official NetBSD repository so I don't know if this also affects other BSD and Linux.

I don't know much about this custom viewtube protocol. Which app do you open it with? Where do you have the link to start, so I can try reproducing?

Can you test on your set up what FireFox 45/48, FireFox 52 or SeaMonkey do? best would be also to compare with original Palemoon 27, to see if something "broke". In case, did you install any custom plugin?

I followed the protocol method from the official website (scroll down to the Linux and BSD section) and I can confirm it's working on FF 52. I only installed uBlock and GreaseMonkey + ViewTube on both AF and FF.

What is your external viewer? It might be that GreaseMonkey doesn't work well? https://github.com/janekptacijarabaci/greasemonkey/releases/tag/3.31.4Fork

I use mpv and the mentioned version of GM. I doubt GM is the culprit since it redirects to the right link.

Can confirm working on SeaMonkey 2.53.16 with GM port for SM 3.10.0.1rc5pre

Doesn't work, even after deleting all user data directories and opening the link by setting window.location.href, thus not a GM-specific issue.
