[remux] remux accessible from xochitl lockscreen

Open flow-c opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

As it says in the title, I can bring up the remux window (with a genie gesture) from the xochitl lockscreen, before I enter my passcode to unlock my rm2.

Is that expected behaviour? Can remux/genie be disabled when the lockscreen is active?

Otherwise having a passcode is futile as any app (other than xochitl) can be launched without authentication 😳

I’m on v2.9.0.210, kernel v5.4.70, genie v0.1.5-3, remux v0.1.9-4 (with power mgmt disabled).

i haven't looked into detecting whether xochitl is locked or not, so this is expected behavior at the moment. if anyone has advice / tips, i appreciate it!

My advice: when there is a task switcher like remux, then xochitl cannot be trusted to lock the device. (Because obviously, xochitl can be paused and switched away from, or even killed. The user may also opt to not run xochitl at times.) So any locking for security purposes, should be done by the task switcher (or the underlying OS).

With remux active, xochitl simply cannot be responsible for security. The better way would be to not use xochitl locking, and instead implement locking in remux. If remux locks the screen, all other GUI apps will be suspended until unlocking happens.
