Blender 3.4 Support

Open rlguy opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Blender 3.4 is set to release on December 7, 2022 and at this moment it is too early for us to begin extensively testing this version. We will start looking further into official Blender 3.4 support shortly after Blender 3.3 releases on September 7, 2022.

At this moment there are no known compatibility issues between Blender 3.4 Alpha (fc1a53eb7b97, 03-aug-2022) and the latest FLIP Fluids addon version 1.4.0, but this may change as Blender 3.4 develops.

At this moment there are no known compatibility issues between Blender 3.4 Beta (0190b104c85c, 14-nov-2022) and the latest FLIP Fluids addon version 1.5.0.

At this point, it is unlikely that there will be any breaking changes in Blender 3.4 that affect the addon as it is now in a "Bug Fixing Only" stage of development. FLIP Fluids 1.5.0 will likely remain compatible with Blender 3.4, but we still plan to release a new version of the addon with fixes and improvements prior to the release of Blender 3.4.

Blender 3.4 is now well-tested and supported in the latest release of the FLIP Fluids addon version 1.6.0.

FLIP Fluids version 1.5.0 should also work without issue in Blender 3.4.

It has been reported that vertex groups on the fluid surface mesh and whitewater simulation meshes are not preserved between frames in Blender 3.4.

This issue has been fixed and will be included in a small FLIP Fluids 1.6.1 update in early January 2023. If vertex groups are needed on the simulation meshes, a workaround is to use Blender 3.3 or earlier or to export the simulation to an Alembic (.abc) cache.
