elinks not rendering devanagari fonts correctly

After a recent upgrade from elinks 0.16 to 0.17 the devanagari font support has stopped working for me.

I am using mlterm which renders the font correctly in browser like w3m. I am attaching both screen shots for web page https://www.loksatta.com/

elinks: incorrect rendering (was correct in 0.16)
