Notepad3 cannot replace the UWP app Notepad.
The newly created .txt file can be opened normally with Notepad3.
However, the version of Notepad that comes up when you search for it in the Start menu cannot be replaced with Notepad3.

Hello @madman43 , You need to use the setup version and use the option of replacing Window Notepad with Notepad3. For latest version of Notepad3, download version "Notepad3_6.24.828.1_rc3_Setup" or newer, see the 2nd list in issue #1129.
Same issue, maybe due to the new Windows11 24H2 update. Previouly on Windows 23H2, all works fine, but when I update to 24H2, the replacement failed. This problem exists on both of my two PC, so I think 24H2 is the origin. I tried to reinstall the latest version of Notepad3 but it doen't work. When I tap "notepad" in Windows Run, Windows Notepad appears instead of Notepad3.
Hello @KingRayCao , It seems that the new Windows11 24H2 update cancels the option: "Replace Windows Notepad with Notepad3".
I advise you to completely uninstall Notepad3 first, then reinstall the latest Notepad3 RC3 version with the option: "Replace Windows Notepad with Notepad3".

I can confirm that performing an in-place upgrade from Windows 11 23H2 to Windows 11 24H2 did indeed break Notepad3's "Replace Windows Notepad" feature.
I can also confirm that @hpwamr's suggestion of uninstalling Notepad3 and running the latest setup version of the Notepad3 installer (Notepad3_6.24.828.1_rc3_x64_Setup.7z) does indeed replace Notepad with Notepad3 again.
