Kreya unable to start in Ubuntu 24.04

Open mmohaveri opened this issue 10 months ago • 1 comments

Describe the bug As libwebkit2gtk-4.0 is not available on Ubuntu 24.04 (22.04 is the latest LTS with 4.0) and have been replaced with libwebkit2gtk-4.1, Kreya does not start with the Unable to load shared library libwebkit2gtk-4.0.so.37` error.

Expected behavior I expect Kreya to rely on a version of webkit2gtk available in latest Ubuntu LTS.

Screenshots

Environment (if possible, copy the information from the error dialog or the About menu):

  • OS: Ubuntu 24.04
  • Kreya Version: v1.16.0 installed using the tar ball.

We are in the process of updating the dependencies, which will fix this.

But for now, you still need to install the old library. As a workaround:

  1. Edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add the line deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy main universe
  2. Run sudo apt update
  3. Run sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.0-dev
  4. Restore /etc/apt/sources.list back to the previous version

With our latest beta release, Kreya has been updated to use GTK4 and libwebkit6. Now libgtk-4-1 and libwebkitgtk-6.0-4 are required.

This is now released with Kreya 1.18
