Build for UT 16.04 Xenial
Hi, this is more a a request than an issue. There are many older UT phones out there that couldn't be used as a daily driver anymore, because of missing 4G or other things. But it would be nice to use these still functional devices as offline navigation systems. But the old xenial-build of osmscout-server in the openstore is not capable of using actual maps (I think this was fixed with the latest 3.1.5 build and it's updated valhalla). So, could you please also build osmscout-server for UT 16.04 Xenial to keep these devices alive?
Ubuntu Touch 16.04 reached its end of life 2 years ago. Therefore, I don't want to put much effort into this. If I find some spare time, I can give it a quick try to create a build for 16.04 again.
I know, 16.04 is end of life. Because of this I don't use mine as a regular phone, but it would be nice, if we can use it offline as a navigation system, so that the fully working hardware got a second life ;) I can understand that you're not interested in investing much time in a 16.04-build, but if you can try and build a working osmscout-server, it would be great. Thank you!
I gave it a fair shot. Unfortunately, it is not easy to build the new version of valhalla on Ubuntu 16.04. The system-provided boost libraries are too old. Valhalla can fall back to installing a newer one with conan. But then again, conan can't be installed, because Python is too old. At this point I am giving up. If you want to try yourself, you can find my attempt in https://github.com/jonnius/osmscout-server/tree/revive-16.03.
Thank you for your research. I don't think that I can deal with the problems you have discovered, so the build for 16.04 is history...
