Audio doesn’t play while Facetime is on

For starters, my phone is not on silent mode and the respect silent mode is turned off. I believe it is intentional for the app to not output audio if another app is doing so, but if that could be a separate setting to turn off or on that would be great. I am in a facetime call often, and would like to be able to play with audio while I do that. I think the intent behind this was to avoid overlap in music and whatnot, but a setting for this or just an in-app volume bar would be nice.
