Unable to activate email plugin
I am not able to activate the mail plugin. Apple mail restarts, but the plugin never gets activated. I already tried several re-installs of the plugin and the altserver-app. OS X Mojave: 10.14.6 Apple Mail: 12.4 Alt-Server: 1.1.1
same problem here :(
I am also experiencing this issue on Catalina. For reference, the exact error message is "Could not connect to the mail plug-in". If I uninstall and reinstall the mail plug-in, AltServer will become unresponsive and I am forced to manually kill the process. It seems to get stuck, and waiting it out does not fix the problem.
For reference: I was not logged in to Apple Mail when I tried to do this. I tried logging in to iCloud after this error occurred to see if things would change, but it made no difference.
There is a fix just follow these instructions - https://support.mailbutler.io/knowledge-base/how-to-activate-apple-mail-plug-ins-in-macos-mojave/
It works for me

When I try this, after mail has restarted, the tickbox of the plugin is unchecked again... so it
doesn't work for me...
For some reason, it works for me when mail app it open but I do get "Could not connect to the mail plug-in" when mail is fully closed.
Mail app has to be open. It can be without any notifications and minimized to background, though.

The problem still persists with v. 1.1.2
Catalina, 10.15.1 on a MacBook A1342 here, and having the same issue. Enabling the plugin does not work - each time Mail restarts, the plugin is gone.
There are two things I could pin this on: SIP and/or FileVault. I don't have an install media at hand to disable SIP right now and disabling FileVault would take forever. :p So hopefully there is another way to fix this.
Using an Apple account without 2FA works on macOS Catalina 10.15.2
I have SIP disabled on macOS Catalina 10.15.4 (19E287), and I'm still having the plugin staying unchecked right after I check it and restart Mail.app. I have tried it with SIP enabled, as well, but no luck :(

I have tried all of the options I could think of, including this. Still can't enable it.
Edit, It seems like /Library/Mail/Bundles/AltPlugin.mailbundle/Contents/Info.plist
is missing a UUID for the mail app version 13.4.
I tried to read this value defaults read /System/Library/Frameworks/Message.framework/Resources/Info
and it's CFBundleSignature = "????";
Apple must have changed something recently with their mail.app framework.
I'm also not seeing the manage plug-ins button, even after trying the Mailbutler instructions. The plug-in does seem to be in the place it's supposed to be.
Same here! Catalina 10.15.4 (yes, I know...)
I am totally unable to activate the mail plugin! Installing the plugin succeeds (I can see it in /Library/Mail/Bundles) but I cannot activate it in Mail because the „manage plug ins“ won’t open! After uninstalling I can manage the plugins, but as soon as it is installed I can’t :-/ so my guess is it’s the plugins fault.
Restarts and reinstalling didn’t help.
just leave the mail app open it worked for me make sure the plugin is checked

I tried all possible options. It didn’t change anything. As soon the altstore plugin is installed Apple mail won’t let me open „manage plugins“.
-
Make sure you're signed in to a mail on the mail app.
-
Open Mail then Preferences
-
the General tab should be selected by default when it opens.
-
Go down and select manage Plugins
-
Tick select the plugin
-
Apply and restart

That is exactly where it fails. :) Upon re-launch, the plugin is no longer selected.

Yes, I know exactly how it’s done. I know how to manage plugins within mail. I just cannot as soon as the plugin from Altserver is installed!
Let me be clear: the button „manage plugins“ is unresponsive as long the plugin from altserver is installed! As soon as it is removed, I am able to.
FWIW, I was having the exact same issue. I also noticed I was not able to check the Enable this account
in Mail.app's Preferences -> Account pane.
Turns out the Apple ID I created didn't have email enabled by default. I went in to System Preferences -> Internet Accounts and enabled Mail
. I was prompted to create an *.icloud.com
email address for my account (this cannot be changed once you create it).
Seems to me you might need to make sure you've added your iCloud account here and ensure that Mail
is checked (create an email address if needed). Once I did this, everything installed just fine.
Be sure you disabled the macOS firewall. I had the same issues until I disabled it
When I click on "manage plugin" no window opens when Altstore has the plug-in installed. If I uninstall the plugin, the perferance pannel works again.
FIXED!
Solution: Delete the DataVaults Folder
Follow steps: C. Ask Mail to Reset the DataVaults and D. Delete the DataVaults Folder from these instructions: https://c-command.com/spamsieve/help/if-the-apple-mail-plug
Note: removing the DataVaults folder requires disabling SIP (System Integrity Protection). Be sure to re-enable it afterwards by following the instructions at the above link.
My issue was solved by installing a SmallCubed MailSuite extension, which caused the "manage plugins" button to appear. I was then able to install the AltPlugin mail bundle (which shows up in the list twice, but there's only one copy in the plugin folder.)
But, I can't use AltServer when I'm connected to the network produced by my jailbroken iPad and TetherMe. I have to use a cable.
This whole dependency on Mail is horrible, many people don't use Mail. I can't activate the plugin because you can't go to preferences without setting up a mail account first.
same issue
After years of not being able to use this app, I GOT IT TO WORK.
I went to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, and ticked OFF all accounts but my Apple ID one. (The email I sign in with, NOT the iCloud one).
I deleted the app, and turned all the email accounts back on, but it still works! I hope this can help someone!

It works for me, thanks!
It seems to be misfunctionning, when I enable the plugin, I have this error, the plugin cannot be activated.

You have any idea ?
