How to play my file when connecting to friend's server?

Open JerCoolDude opened this issue 3 years ago • 7 comments

Me and my friend set up a server and got it running and I was able to connect to his server but when I log in the only profile to choose from is my friend's. how do I get my profile on his server?

you can login on his server with no issues I assume? Did you create an account on his server to use? (Basically just type in anything in the login-screen, if the account does not exist it will make one)

When I try to type something in it just says "Error logging in". the only way to avoid that seems to be to input my friend's password but that just leads me to his account. We are using hamachi instead of port forwarding because idk how to do that so maybe that's the issue.

Let your friend check the output of the server as you try to login. It should throw an error. Sadly though I don't really have a plan how hamachi works but since you could connect to the server it seems to work.

Otherwise try clearing your Internet Explorer-Cache as well as mentioned in the Troubleshooting-section

ok I managed to create a new character on his server. but I don't really want to start over if I don't have to so is there any way that I can transfer the files from my server to his?

Should be possible, though I can't tell you 100% how its done. All I know right that the server should have some savefile for the character (likely located in the savefile directory on the server) + plus some stuff in the database that may be needed to be imported. Can't tell you more specifics though. Would need to look into that, but right now I don't have the time to do so

I'm sure it's possible, but you may need to do some database manipulation and such, might be more effort than it's worth.

I certainly know it is possible. I will ask around a bit, since I know of a server that did in fact give out all user-info after the server was about to shut down. I will do some research on the topic and add a thing or too to the documentation. This may come in handy waaay later down the line really, when there good public servers and stuff, but documenting how to do it might be a good idea.

I will see what I can come up with after exams, so in March basically.
