Improvements in deciding on splay -> leg upgrade (e.g. detecting steep legs)

On very steep legs, 80 degrees or so, the compass varies with very little movement of the laser point. This makes it difficult for a person to take a steep leg. Maybe some calculation of the size of error box could be the way forward. BCRA stipulates 10cm for grade 5 so maybe the default could be 5cm

I've been discussing ways forward with this with Becka / Julian / Phil / Benjy etc. Current way is non-optimal.
