Export station notes in Therion

Open AndrewAkinson opened this issue 7 years ago • 9 comments

It would be useful to be able to add notes to splays and legs. My main use of this is to label the first splay with what the station is so people can find it on a return trip. Bit can also say what the splay points to, or occasionally use it on a leg, it is a good place to comment about a QM.

A real advancement would be to allow a photo tag to be added, then you could photo the station or the QM

Notes would be useful. I'm not sure about photos. It's a nice idea but I don't know if enough people would use it to be much of a priority. I think TopoDroid allows this.

Also: QM?

QM = Question Marks, lots of clubs have adopted the A-C (D) scale which I introduced to CUCC in the early 90s to keep track of the hundreds (now probably thousands) of leads we have. A = Everything right about this, size place draught... we will be heading back here very soon B = Reasonable worth a look C = need to note it, but I'm not in a hurry to get back, but useful to note when looking for short-cuts etc (D) = a dig I feel is worth noting eg has a massive draft X is also now used for Avens some people are using XA XB XC as well

As for photos, I think that if easily done they would be used more readily, with the device having a camera built in, if the software just recorded the photo number and stored it in the same folder, I think that would be incredibly useful, especially if Sexytopo eventually can take a whole dataset in and read it, then someone who has not been there has far more chance of identifying a station

Still thinking about how to do comments but for now it is possible to add text directly onto the sketch.

It is now possible to add comments to stations.

Holding down on a station and then saying comment, does not add it to the station it adds it to a leg that is associated with that station. Yes legs and splays should be able to be commented on, I think that the only sensible way of doing this is from the data screen.

It does add it to the station. When it gets exported to Therion/Survex it has to be added to a leg because that's the only way of doing it AFAIK.

You are right of course. It is the export.

Therion supports. Not sure if Survex does. Not got access to the manual

station station comment associates a comment to a station. If the comment has spaces it must be enclosed in quotations '”'. Example: station 32 “continuable, with less rock”.

It would still be good to be able to comment legs and splays, but I think I have that filed in another issue

Thanks

Andrew

Thanks - another reason to separate the Survex / Therion export :/
