@ethorad Sorry about not responding sooner. I appreciate the offer. I'm currently updating the existing styles to use the v5 file format including source references. Once that's done I think I can adapt the script I wrote to do that to speed up creating new styles but if that doesn't work i would appreciate help in finishing this off if you're still interested.
