There are js dependencies in the add_mathjax function that refer to rawgit.com URLs that appear to be defunct (404).

For those who like me might be stuck on using mathematical expression with DiagrammeR, I fell back on using the grid and Gmisc packages, as referenced below. This allowed me to make basic flowcharts with mathematical expressions in them, although I would have preferred to use DiagrammeR.
