Purpose of overrides in common folder

Hi,

I'm trying to understand overrides You've made to android-x86 project to get OS work in TV mode. I don't understand the purpose of all the stuff in common folder - is it essential for Android TV, or just tweaking android-x86. What is essensial? I know about overlay/frameworks/base, MainFragment.java and setting proper type in default manifest, but is there anything else?
