It is not abandoned. But I probably won't update it for Adonis 5 since I don't have any projects with v5. I wound not be able to support it.

Would a PR be fine? I can work on porting the project to V5 and raise a PR if you're okay with it

The problem isn't porting it to v5, but providing proper support. Since I'm not using v5, I won't be able to really test it, ensure good developer experience, and quickly react to a bug.

I think it depends on how much work is required to support v5. If the interface remains largely the same and just a few changes are required for compatibility I'm fine with merging a PR. But if it requires basically a complete rewrite I don't think it wound be a good idea.

I'm open for input.

will check on this one. I used bumblebee for v4 and was amazing.
