EOR: make nodes persistent between dates

Instead of laying out nodes again entirely when the dates is changed, do a diff between the nodes in the current network & nodes in the new network. Only remove nodes that are no longer present, and only add new nodes for nodes that weren't present before. This will make the network more stable.
