Default voice sometimes reset to first available choice

I am unable to reproduce this my-self but I have seen two independent report about this happening on a eyes-free google groups mailing list.

Steps to reproduce

  • install eSpeak for Android from the play store,
  • Launch the homescreen icon so the voice data get installed,
  • open the Android text to speech settings,
  • Choose the eSpeak as the default engine and accept the system warning dialog,
  • notice that eSpeak correctly detects voice according to the Android default language,
  • Tap the settings icon on the right to the eSpeak entry in the voice engines list,
  • Settings window where one can tap the language and more settings is displayed. At this point the language is reset to af voice at least this is what do the reporters say.
  • This has happened to a greek and an italian users. For example while the default voice was italian or greek after openning the eSpeak settings the voice has been automagically reset to af.

I have seen this behaviour on an English Android emulator -- particularly on a clean/initial install. I'm not sure what's causing this, though. I'll need to investigate further.
