Mute/Bypass Repeater Daisy Chain

I could have sworn I was able to connect the output of one repeater to the input of another before. For some reason it's not allowing me to do it. Am I misremembering or is something broken?

The repeater must be connected to a relay node:

And it can go in either direction, if you invert the node layout for both nodes:

Maybe you mean that?
