Login fails

Attempting to login fails with this error.

Environment: Windows 10, Steam version 1702079146.

This is an old issue that has been haunting me for quite a while. Does this happen on every run? Or only occasionally? I've only personally experienced this issue a handful of times over the years, which makes it incredibly difficult to troubleshoot. You're also not the first person to report this so I totally understand it needs to be taken care of. Do you have any other details for how this error occurs?

I tried it a good number of times and it happened every time, but now I'm going back to it and it works, so unfortunately not much information there. Maybe it's dependent on a particular state that Steam can be in? But that's pure speculation. I'll try to to test it more regularly and let you know if it recurs.
