What should restic do differently? Which functionality do you think we should add?

1. Is it possible to implement exclude definition under each folder which git and kopia (another backup tool in golang) do?
2. Is it possible to backup only some type of file like xls,doc in the path and exclude all other files

What are you trying to do? What problem would this solve?

I want to migrate some data from other tool and some git repo which contains .gitignore file and will be change in the furture.

about the feature request 2

I just want to backup some office file which is in a root folder but contains other program's data which is not necessary to be backed up. some suggestion from using other backup tools example kopia and borgbackup borgbackup implement a pattern file which defines the include and exclude regex and the folder which should be backuped while kopia implement the dot-ignore file
