Is there a way to debug an app after it is installed on device/emulator?

Well, the title is self explaining. I thought about installing including the source code, and maybe using an emulator. The fact is: my app works on my laptop, but fails on my device. To discover the reason of its crash I would like to debug it, but how? Is it possible? Thanks.
