Nesting templates

Currently I'm dealing with nesting templates within Freemarker. I have not seen any obvious syntax to achieve this. But I need some deeper understanding on this topic regarding to Freemarker.

At the moment I solve this issue by replacing the prototyped includes for the tab previews with variables. These have to be processed by the middleware: 152c1ada2fec4e046ec14782f30b7ec1eeb5f1ab

Maybe there is a feature of the template-engine to do this out-of-the-box.
