use ublox libraries to manage GPS configurations

There are at least a couple of good ublox libraries

  • https://os.mbed.com/teams/ublox/code/gnss/
  • https://github.com/ldab/u-blox_GNSS

Evaluate removing the custom code and use these ones instead
