Treatment of the solid earth component of the pole tide
Kleinherenbrink et al. 2018 note that the solid Earth tide in RADS does not include the solid Earth component of the pole tide and that the pole tide field is a combination of solid+ocean tide. In order to compare altimetry with tide gauges. In order for users to consistently compare RADS data to land-based sea level from gauges, etc. either:
- The solid earth and pole tide fields could be reconfigured or
- A new field for the ocean component only of the pole tide could be added to RADS.
The second option may be preferable because it is the least disruptive.
