Gnome control center hides dialog box losing focus

Open 99Percent opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug When on the gnome control center, a dialog box will go under if clicking back on the parent window, losing focus with no way to get the focus back (unless you manage to resize the parent window)

To Reproduce

  1. Open the gnome control center aka settings with Win-C
  2. Select "Power" tab
  3. Click on "Automatic Suspend" - a dialog box shows
  4. Click anywhere on the parent window of the control center - the dialog box hides.
  5. Focus is lost and any mouse clicks and typing is lost as input is going to the hidden dialog box.

Expected behavior The dialog box should be modal and never disappear unless explicitly closed or closed automatically as soon as it loses focus.

Installation Details

  • Regolith Install Type: ISO
  • Regolith Version: 1.6
  • Host OS: Ubuntu 20.04

Hi @99Percent yes this is a serious usability issue. I'm not aware of anything that can be done in Regolith to resolve this. gnome-settings is the app that has the problem. The only obvious solution I am aware of is to replace gnome-settings with something else but that would be a costly project.

Just use super and drag the top window away to reveal the modal / dialog box.
