1.0.38 : connection / reconnection stability issues

Open kr428 opened this issue 10 years ago • 6 comments

Folks,

after upgrading to 1.0.38 (Google Play) I experience massive issues in stability with Xabber running and switching networks, in example after turning off WiFi while leaving the office. By then, Xabber either will endlessly (and without any success) try to reconnect to my servers and/or just crash to restart being offline. This wasn't the case with earlier versions. Is this just me? Related to the recent smack updates? Any way to debug what's going on? TIA and all the best, Kristian

@kr428 it must be related with last Smack updates. Thanks for testing. What servers do you use?

We're on openfire so this is obviously similar to #521...

FWIW, I am experiencing the same symptoms (Xabber is retries forever, never connects). The server in this case is ejabberd 15.03.

The server logs show no entries at all, and no actual TCP connection is established from the client.

When tapping on "RECONNECT", a "Connection Error" message appears.

This is version 1.0.39 from F-Droid running on Android 4.2.1

Hi. I've done some testing with OpenFire 3.9.3 (which I'm also stuck with, because of no newer build for Synology) and this is indeed all related to message archive retrievals. I've also noticed when my friends upgraded Xabber to 1.0.31+ (stable or up) that if we try to chat using Pidgin or Spark on desktop computers, those get disconnected when you initiate chat - if the users exit Xabber on phone, then desktop clients work fine too.

@teihoo can you provide us an account on openfire server to run checks against it for new versions of Xabber?

I can provide now account on openfire 4.1.3 since I updated Synology to latest DSM and now openfire doesn't run on it at all. If you want can provide you couple of accounts for testing, just drop me a private message on teihoo at gmail.
