[Feature] List of Resources for the App in Android TV
I'm using:
- Device name: Philips 50PUG7406/78
- Device type (phone/TV): Android TV
- Android version: 11
I want to suggest this feature:
Hey redphx, thanks very much for the for the initiative. Since the xCloud app is limited just for Samsung TVs, this project will save and help a lot the Android TV users. You are really a genius!
I have a list of things that I believe are crucial for the app to be perfect on Android TV:
- Automatic app updates, without the need to download and install the latest APK.
- Optimization of RAM usage (majority devices only have 1GB to run the system + apps).
- Shortcuts to launch games directly from the Android TV / Google TV home screen.
- Feature to launch the last game played using the "Continue watching" from the home screen as well.
- Publish the app in the Play Store (if there are no legal impediments to this).
- Some advanced settings like forcing the use of the GPU, 4x MSAA or something like that could be useful too.
- Full compatibility with any Bluetooth controller, keyboard and mouse.
- Support for screen mirroring using Chromecast in the mobile app, can be useful for who have old sticks with this feature like Chromecast Gen 1, 2 and 3 (in this case, commands are send to the mobile and video/audio to the Chromecast).
- Would be cool have some browser optimization and performance options, like graphics acceleration.
Note: Some suggestions was edited or deleted due not make much sense.
Again, thank you very much for the initiative. I hope to help in some way when possible, good luck with the development and take as long as necessary to polish this work of art <3
Hi there ...
I'm also an Android TV user. And I hope it's ok to share my thoughts on some points.
Enable the use of Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision from the device itself to improve quality (if possible).
Xbox Cloud Gaming only supports streaming up to 1080p60 in SDR and with Stereo sound at the moment. If it's possible, you could set your TV to always output Dolby Vision, even for SDR content. But my impression is that most users prefer to not watch SDR content in HDR mode.
Maybe try using Android System WebView Canary in the app, looks more complete and updated.
The app doesn't bundle the WebView, but uses that one that is installed on your system. Otherwise the app size would increase a lot. But installing another WebView version on your device is something you can do.

But reading that document, it seems that it's not possible to use the Canary channel on Android TV. But you can sign up for the beta program and use the beta version of the WebView on your device, if you think it improves your experience.

After I updated the webview to beta version, the screen stopped flashing
