[Feature Request] Option to ignore leading characters in page index
I really like navigating through the page index. I also really like numbering my sections. This makes everything in the page index go under the same number, and makes it more difficult to find. I would love to have an option to have the page index ignore numbers at the beginning of a section and categorize according to the first letter.
Hey @sarpuser, thanks for opening up this issue.
I can't quite figure out what that looks like. Please share an example how you create and name the pages and sections and how this is displayed in the Page Index.
I like numbering my sections. This means that in the page index, everything shows up under one category. This makes the page index kind of meaningless since eveything gets bundled up under one number. I would like to ability to have some option to ignore the first characters of a file when indexing. Im thinking this could be a regex match. Anything that matches that regex at the beginning of the file name is removed when categorizing the files in the page index. I could for example enter ^(\d* - ) and that would ignore all the numbers, and categorize the wiki according to the actual first letters. This could also be used for ignoring things like "The".
Hey @sarpuser, I thought about this and decided that this is to special solution to apply it in general.
But I will make this an opportunity to extend the plugin capabilities of An Otter Wiki so that you can write a plugin that takes care of changing how your Page Index is display.
I will update this ticket when this is done.
