It doesn't show pictures

According to the documentation, TTT can show geotagged pictures from my phone. However, I have never seen this working in more than a year of usage. I have tried turning the feature on and off and it doesn't work. I checked if the app has access to storage and it has it AFAIK. However the "A Photo Map" of "A Photo Manager" https://github.com/k3b/APhotoManager can show them. Can you suggest what is missing?
