Set up decentralised/open source alternative for discussion list/forum

I'd really love to not use google groups, but need help installing and maintaining something like https://www.discourse.org/. If you'd like to host - please shout. Otherwise I have a redecentralize server we can host on, but looking for someone to help set up and maintain over time.

For bonus points we can migrate the google group discussions over but not neccessary. If anyone knows where the librelist archives are (or has a copy) of our original discuss list, that would be handy!

Forum/discussion list requirements: (add comments if you have other ideas)

• works via email (can subscribe to new posts and reply by email)
• online archive & can post/view via web app

Re: discourse - I really like how they also have upvotes and icons and support for media. Screenshots would help us discuss UX etc

for context, use used to use librelist (which was awesome and beautiful and did exactly what we needed) until it simply stopped working and maintainer disappeared :(
