Tests are not being detected

When i create a new test file, the tests are not being detected. My function names being with "test_". I hit the reload button on the top and also try to run the reload tests command through the command palette and it still does not show up. Also, when i relaunch vscode, the tests appear for a bit, but when i try to run them, they disappear.
